Long Time, No See!

We're going to need a bigger planter.

We're going to need a bigger planter.

It's been far too long since my last post on here!

Work at Floyd has been pretty busy; we've hired another designer within the last month or two, and it's been helpful having an extra set of hands to handle time-intensive jobs. We've also launched our website. Feel free to check it out!

Speaking of websites, you've probably noticed that I'm in the process of trying to update my site! I'm adding a couple of projects (mostly personal work), updating bio information, and changing a few other miscellaneous things. I'm not finished yet, but to be fair, these kinds of tasks are always evolving, aren't they?

On another note, I've been trying to keep myself occupied with personal projects. One piece in particular was a submission for a gallery show by CCAD's Illustration Student Collective (aptly titled "Spring"). It was showcased at 39 Below, a local frozen yogurt shop that has a great relationship with the student group. My friends and I dropped by during the opening reception, and I was thrilled with all of the work on display.

I'll try and keep you posted more often!

New Year, New Updates

After spending a month back home, I'm back for my final semester at CCAD. Here's a brief rundown of what's been happening lately:

Website

I spent part of my winter break refining this site, from its overall design to the content throughout. Although it's taken me some time to become accustomed to Squarespace, I'm feeling much better about how I appear online.

Twitter

For my Copywriting for New Media class, I'm required to set up a personal Twitter account. When I have everything up and running in the next day or two, I might consider incorporating it into this site somehow.

Heroes Project, Part 2

Once again, I've been tasked with interviewing another influential figure in the world of design. This time around, I've chosen to contact Ryan Chapman, a London-based artist who does a large amount of editorial illustration in a decidedly graphic style. He recently expressed his interest in answering some questions, and I intend to follow up with him tomorrow. I'm not certain if I can Skype with him, but I'll probably receive great information all the same. Here's a sampling of his work:

Ad/Graph Thesis Project

This will be my biggest Ad/Graph project to date, with the entire process spanning almost the entire semester. Last week, our class was given a somewhat formal introduction to the objectives, challenges, and past examples of the thesis show. This week, I will begin my search for the concept that I'll explore. It's a daunting task, but between my peers, instructors, and other resources, I'm sure I'll find that big idea. By next week, I would love to have an idea selected at the very least.

I might have very well left out a few details, but those are some of the biggest developments as of late. You can expect a new blog post every week going forward.
